Since childhood, sports and physical activity have been very important in my life. It’s what drove me to a degree in Health Sciences. After choosing to pursue a career in consulting, I struggled early on to find time for physical activity, which had a negative impact on both my physical and mental health. It also opened my eyes to the challenges and barriers many Canadians face to accessing physical activity. I fundamentally believe that we need a change in the social climate and systems that help people build physical activity into their day-to-day lives, which attracted me to ParticipACTION. As a national not-for-profit that inspires and supports people to make physical activity a vital part of their everyday life, this organization aligns with my core values and embodies what I envision for a healthier, more active Canada.
Being involved with ParticipACTION as Board Chair is a role I am honoured to hold and a responsibility I don’t take lightly. It represents a convergence of my lifelong passion for physical activity, my academic background, and my professional journey in consulting. Bringing my skill set and expertise as a consultant to support an issue I am deeply passionate about is incredibly rewarding. Equally rewarding is the opportunity I have to collaborate with like-minded individuals and learn from the wisdom of experts in their fields. Collectively, we have the chance to drive profound positive change through advocacy and concerted efforts to make physical activity universally accessible and celebrated.
